"This is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, and in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong." 2 Corinthians 12:10

Health and fitness has been a part of my life for years. I have always enjoyed participating in athletics and resistance training but I have been even more fascinated studying about it. Having most of my family in the medical field, I decided to follow their lead but take a different approach.

I graduated with a bachelor's degree in Biology from Liberty University and participated in countless hours of internships with physicians, physical therapists and other fitness professionals to be able to do my job as effectively as possible. I started personal training in 2007 and have loved it since, expanding my areas of expertise throughout that time.

I absolutely love meeting with new clients and enjoy being by their side during the process of reaching their goal. I believe you should be fit on the outside and in, using your ONE body as a vessel to do God's work. Start your new era of fitness for yourself but more importantly for the glory of God.

Eddie Pinigis

"No discipline seems pleasant at the time..."

Growing up playing sports and then going on to play college football, I've been involved in exercise my whole life. Not always the strongest or most athletic, I heard a quote in high school that has since stuck with me: "The difference between a successful person and others is not a lack of strength, not a lack of knowledge, but rather in a lack of will."

This inspired me to outwork everyone and helped me achieve my goal of playing at the collegiate level. After hanging up the cleats as an offensive lineman, I found the inner drive to lose over 50 pounds. Through changing my lifestyle and fitness routines I developed a passion to help others reach their goals. Over my five years of college football, I was able to obtain knowledge from some of the top strength and conditioning coaches in the country at both the University of Virginia and Liberty University.

The journey is not always easy whether it be physical or spiritual and that is why everyday I try to live by Hebrews 12:11, "No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on; however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.", in hopes that my light will shine and inspire others.

Jay Smith

Athletics along with health and fitness have always been fascinating to me and was all I ever knew growing up. It wasn't until I got to college that I discovered a passion for health and fitness greater than just for myself. After making lifestyle changes in myself and seeing the benefits and many areas of my life, I wanted nothing more than to share this with others which is what led me to becoming a personal trainer.

I am a Liberty University alumni which a Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology (study of human movement). I have worked at multiple health and fitness centers along with LaHaye Student Union at Liberty University, prior to joining the team at Crosswhite Fitness. Nutrition is also a big passion of mine which keeps me constantly researching which foods has the best effect on the body for specific goals.

Being a trainer is so much more than just telling someone how to workout, it's about the relationship you build with each individual client. The most rewarding aspect for myself as a personal trainer is not just seeing a client reach their goals, it's seeing him or her achieve far more than they could have ever imagined. I know that God put me in this profession for a specific reason and I am determined to give my clients 100% of the ability I have been given.

Melody Hicks

Melody Hicks leads our new children's program at Crosswhite Fitness. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree with a Children's Ministries Specialization from Liberty University and is pursuing certification as a weight loss/nutrition practitioner. She has been working with children for 10 years in various capacities and has a desire to see children grow and accomplish what God has planned for their lives, while maintaining a healthy physical, mental, and spiritual lifestyle. Our children's program includes: 1) kids boot camps which involves fitness/circuit training and sports conditioning; 2) one-on-one mentoring program; 3) customized birthday parties in our pavilion; 4) parent's night out.

Melody shares: "Since I was young, I've known that God has called me to work with children. I've been a pastor's kid, watching my dad minister to people made my passion expand. I have worked with children in countless environments and churches, with hundreds of internship hours. Over the past 2 years, God has been with me on an amazing life-changing journey. I've lost 150 pounds with the help of my trainer Ben Crosswhite. In these 2 years, I have gained so much knowledge while training under him and from my personal weight loss experience. Through my training, research/education about different methods and nutrition and speaking opportunities, an excitement has been building within me to share and teach what I have learned with our young people. I could think of no greater place to launch my children's program than at the gym that changed my life. I have no doubt that I can help and support your children in their journey toward lifelong fitness, as they pursue and maintain a healthy lifestyle through physical activity and eating right, while they receive encouragement to focus on God's will for their life. I know what it's like to struggle in fitness, but more importantly I know what it's like to excel in fitness. My struggle has become my passion and my strength comes through Christ: 'I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.'" (Philippians 4:13).

Tyler Davies

"Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men." - Colossians 3:23

My passion for health and fitness started off at a very young age. I loved playing baseball, basketball, football, and as I entered high school, lifting weights and physical training became something that I absolutely loved to do. This interest in physical training is what led me to Liberty University where I earned my bachelor's degree in Exercise Science.

I love learning about the human body and the amazing things that it is capable of. This fascination leads me to constantly read about new training ideas and techniques which serve as the basis for my own training and the training of clients here at Crosswhite Fitness. I strive to always be learning and growing in the field of health and fitness so that I can serve the clients here in the best way possible.

Seeing people push past their limits and reach their goals is something that I find extremely exciting and fulfilling. I believe if people are willing to put in the time and effort to go the extra mile, they can accomplish more than they ever thought possible. This is the mindset that I train with and the mindset that I encourage all clients to train with as well. Above all, I think life and all of its amazing opportunities are gifts, and should be cherished and maximized for the glory of God.

“Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize? So run that you may obtain it.” – 1 Corinthians 9:24

Brady received his Bachelor’s in Exercise Science from Liberty University. While studying at Liberty University, Brady was a member of the University’s Division 1 Track and Field Team for two years. Brady is a Certified Exercise Physiologist through the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM).

He loves to work with individuals who are brand new to the gym as well as individuals who have been involved with fitness for years. For Brady, each and every person provides a new challenge that He is excited to tackle. Brady has experience working with a variety of populations through numerous domains, including speed and agility, strength and conditioning, weight training and weight loss. Brady thrives on both helping people meet their goals, and educating people about why being fit is so important.

Brady’s involvement in sports from an early age, as well as his unknown family history (due to adoption), are two things that gave him the passion to begin a career as a personal trainer. Some of the most influential people in Brady’s life, have been coaches and trainers. He hopes to bring similar influence to others through a ministry of teaching healthy living.

Brady believes that for both mental and physical health it is important to challenge yourself on a regular basis. The fitness world and the atmosphere of the gym provides a perfect setting for regular challenges.

“One of the greatest feelings in life is realizing your body just did something it couldn’t do two weeks ago.”

"And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you."
1 Peter 5:10

Ever since I can remember, athletics has been a significant part of my life. Although I have always been an active person; true fitness was never a priority of mine until the early years of college. While studying Exercise Science at Liberty University I developed a profound respect for God's ingenious design of the human body and became fascinated of what it can accomplish. With this new perspective I then decided to make not only athletics, but also true fitness a priority in my life.

I have always loved to see motivated people reach their goals and this is why I love my job. As a Certified Exercise Physiologist and Licensed Massage Therapist I am now equipped to assist clients in reaching their fitness goals, as well as helping them reduce chronic pain that they may be having. God has not called us to simply live, he has called us to abundant life and this is why we must better ourselves every day.
